It's Episode 37 of the Is This A Thing Podcast!

"Dan's Dirtbag Diaries: Littering and Cargo Shorts"

Starring Marc, Dan, and Akshat!

Potential Things This Week:

  • Littering: Look, is it wrong? Probably. Is it hilarious and so, so convenient? You better believe it.
  • Apple Juice: Listen as Marc paints out an insane argument, that's somehow mysteriously convincing. So mysterious, in fact, that it might even be...
  • Magic: Who believes in this? What happened to John Edwards' political career? What if God was Sun?

It's Episode #37 of this Is This A Thing Podcast! This week, we discuss littering. Why does Dan do it? Why does it seem so funny? We'll never know. Next, Marc yells at anyone who enjoys Apple Juice. It's a super-liminal argument! Just yelling and anger. Finally, we talk about Magic, but we mostly talk about John Edward(s), David Blaine, and why people might want to believe.

Episode 36 of the Is This a Thing Podcast!

"A Free Watch and a Roll of Butt-Quarters"

Potential Things This week:

  • Old Greeting Cards: Either they belong on the mantle or in the hearth.
  • Oscars 2016: Thank you to the Academy for forcing the youth of America to tell their mom why Mad Max: Fury Road is a good movie.
  • Marc's Watch: Is it Marc's watch, or is he just borrowing it from Haley Joel Osment?
  • Emergency $20: "What am I, made of emergency money?"

It's Episode 36 of the Is This a Thing podcast! The guys are back from caucusing, or at least Marc is. This week Akshat can't decide what to do with all the old cards people have sent him. Should he save them or are they all trash? Hint: burn them all.  The guys spend a little time talking about the Best Picture race.  No matter who won, The Revenant lost. Marc then tells the guys a tale of passion, intrigue and free shit from Amazon. Is it really his watch? Finally, Dan argues for an emergency $20. Marc wants to phone a friend instead.

"Cause as soon as you spend those butt-quarters, you put in another roll of butt-quarters."

Its Episode 35 of the Is This a Thing Podcast! The guys are all off being patriotic and waiting in line at their respective primaries and caucuses. While they wait to flip a coin to determine the leader of the free world, we've weaved a quilt of possible things for you! Most of these things were deemed too weird/opinionated/short to make the cut on a normal episode, but in the spirit of Bernie Sanders, FREE SHIT for EVERYONE! Also, next week we're planning on pulling a Trump and Making the Podcast Great Again by recording a new episode! Thanks for listening.

Special Thanks to Taylor Higgins (@taylorhigs) for our logo!

Episode 34 of the Is This a Thing podcast!

"Is This a Date?"

Potential Things This Week:

  • Office Decoration: Dan tries to have a job without being part of his office's culture. Sadness ensues.
  • The Most Horrible Date: Let's do something you're bad at in front of other people!
  • Professional Wrestling: IT'S BACK, BABY! But why now? And also why?

It's Episode 34 of the Is This a Thing podcast! This week, Dan's back and better than ever! We talk about how Dan should redecorate his office: will he be a boring old Dilbert or an insane Rhonda? Marc complains about possibly having to learn how to paint on the fly while drinking overpriced wine, and we accidentally fix the American date. Finally, "Backup" Dan emails in a question about why men pretending to kick the shit out of each other are suddenly popular again. Answer: because we live in the best possible world for the moment.

"Stop asking questions and go see Deadpool."

Episode 32 of the Is This a Thing Podcast!

"The Wrong Dan"

Potential Things This week:

  • The Wrong Name: Are some people given the wrong name at birth? Why are all Ryans tall?
  • Personality Tests: Find out which Personality Test you're most like! Are you a buzzfeed quiz? Or are you more of a Myers-Briggs? No matter what, we're all Hufflepuff.
  • TV based on Film: Is it a good thing for television to not be based on an original idea or script? Why are source films so bad *cough*Buffy*cough*.

Its Episode 33 of the Is This a Thing podcast! This week, we're subbing Dan with Dan! Listen to how interchangeable all Dans are! The guys first discuss the idea of how some people have the wrong name. Why does Jonathan keep adopting kids? Then they talk about personality tests. Did the Sorting Hat take 8 hours to decide which house you're in? If not, it probably made a mistake. Don't worry, there's always Hufflepuff. Finally they talk about how more and more television shows are based on films. Looking at you, Parenthood.

Special Thanks to Taylor Higgins (@taylorhigs) for our logo!

Episode 32 of the Is This a Thing Podcast!

"If There's Grass on the Field, Clem Fandango."

Potential Things This week:

  • Same Side Sitters: Akshat finds himself disgusted at a couple eating side by side. His solution? Ban them from everywhere.
  • HIDMTTTY: America's favorite segment is back! This time with more Truffle and Clem than ever!
  • Suberb Owl Monday: For legal reasons, lets pretend like we pronounced it like that. President's day just got more flexible.
  • Taking a Break: Boy do we have some bad news for Ben... "I think I'd like some space... forever."

It's Episode 32 of the Is This A Thing Podcast! Akshat is sick, which adds to his "husky" tone. Listen as Dan starts to tell the story that never ended. He first brings up sitting on the same side of a booth at a restaurant. Who does this? Monsters. Next, its America's favorite segment: "Hey, I didn't mean to talk to you!" This time it is LA Duke @churlsplay on Twitter who asks a question we'll never forget, but never understand. Next, we talk about America's next great holiday, Suberb Owl Monday. The day after the big game, we all take a big nap. Finally we have a listener question from "Ben-t outta shape." Are breaks a thing? No, but break-ups are, and you just had one.

"Garçon, we're going to be performing the sacred."

#31 Lawyr: by ITAT

Special Thanks to Taylor Higgins (@taylorhigs) for our logo!

Episode 31 of the "Hey Zuckernerd!" Podcast!

"Lawyr: by ITAT"

Potential Things This week:

  • Stupid QuestionsDan starts the podcast off with a stupid question about stupid questions. Newsflash: they never go away.
  • Warranties: the question isn't whether or not to do them. But how best to grift-out a profit.
  • Lawyr™ by ITAT: the best idea we've come up with since ITAT air. Patent pending, jerks.
  • Solo Barhopping: "Only if you're at a bar for drinkin', not getting drunk." -Akshat Arneja

It's Episode 31 of the "Hey Zuckernerd!" Podcast! We start the episode with Dan asking about whether or not stupid questions will ever go away. It is a self-fulfilling prophecy. Then, Marc asks a question about warranties. Are they a good idea? Only with the plan to scam. Akshat then brings up his personal lawyer idea (as found on Bonus Rant #3: Akshat's Lawyer). This time the guys create the best app ever: Lawyr: by ITAT. Don't you dare steal our idea, Zuckernerd! Finally, the guys argue against going to bars by yourself. Hint: going to a club solo is super creepy regardless of gender.

Special Thanks to Taylor Higgins (@taylorhigs) for our logo!

It's Episode 30 of the Is This A Thing? Podcast!

"#30 Twelve Bottles of Soylent and a Gun with One Bullet."

Potential Things This Week:

  • Soylent 2.0: Soylent is back! Marc is going to try it. If we're lucky, he'll film his first taste and make it bonus content.
  • Bourne-Out Bags: Fill it with Fiji water, MREs, and pictures of the family you left behind.
  • Bloody Marys: Too many unnecessary toppings. Thanks, Wisconsin.
  • Soundcloud Q&A: Hear the first (and hopefully last) Soundcloud submitted question.
  • Public Transit Live-Reads: Buses: the last true form of live theatre. Goodbye headphones, hello live infomercials.

It's Episode 30 of the Is This A Thing Podcast! We're still back, and going strong! Hear our first ever podcast recorded over Skype! See if you can tell who has the best internet connection! We start the episode with a shocking confession from Marc. He's going on Soylent! Listen as he reluctantly joins a community of smug assholes. Dan has our first topic where he argues for the ability to have a bug-out bag ready. He argues that it is for survival. We all know why he really wants it. Then, Akshat gets curmudgeony about bloody mary toppings. Dan and Akshat talk about bloody marys while Marc dreams about Mimosas. Finally, Marc brings up live-read bus infomercials. ITAT once again saves the planet, public transportation, and the unemployment crisis in one swift motion.

"Wouldn't you be nicer to people if you knew they just had the capability to just drop everything and leave?" - Dan.

Special Thanks to Taylor Higgins for the Logo. Follow her on twitter: @TaylorHigs

It's Episode 29 of the Is This A Thing? Podcast!

"Sell Us Your Rebates!"

Starring Marc, Dan, and Akshat

Potential Things This Week:

  • Birthday Gifts for Akshat -  Will Akshat's true desire be fulfilled? Nope, though you will get to hear the word "Gropener" said about 20 times, and in spontaneous harmonics.
  • Single Ply Toilet Paper - It wouldn't be ITAT if we didn't spend 20 minutes talking about poop and we can use it to improve the nation. Also - Akshat goes too far.
  • "Hey, I didn't mean to talk to you!"- A new segment, where people who aren't listening unknowingly ask us questions. It all ends in your benefit! Also, we make plans to get some Australian girl extradited and then arrested.
  • Listening Question - Rebates! - Listen, we all know Rebates are a thing. The real question is, would you sell us your mail in rebate? We both profit! Why not? Tell you what, go ahead and mail in your mail in rebates to us, and we'll get it all figured out for you.

It's episode 29 of the Is This A Thing Podcast! Travel back in town to the sexy steamy summer days of 2015, as we pull one from the vault! In past land, Akshat hasn't moved yet and still lives in Minneapolis. Also, it was apparently his birthday recently? You can hear him get his presents! Crazy to think that a time existed before 'Straight Outta Compton' was released. It's wild. Anyways, true to form we basically talk about poop for 20 minutes or so. Mostly about single-ply toilet paper. We then move onto twitter, where we give advice to people who accidentally tweeted at us instead of hashtagging "Is this a thing". It's a wonderful segment we're calling "Hey, I didn't mean to talk to you!". Also, we're just kidding about harassing that girl via twitter. Our lawyer told us we had to mention that. We finally reach a wonderful listener topic from Chris R in Minneapolis - Rebates! Are rebates a thing? We're pretty sure we have an answer, and we're pretty sure we have an award winning business idea to go with it. So join us as we enter first back into your phones, then slowly and creepily into your homes, and finally reach our destination: your hearts. Thanks for listening!

#28: Christmas 2015 - Please Call It A Comeback

It's Episode 28 of the Is This A Thing? Podcast!

"Christmas 2015 - Please Call It A Comeback"

Starring Marc, Dan, and Akshat

Potential Things This Week:

  • Last Minute Christmas Shopping -  Every Christmas, your local Target becomes Dirty Mike's Wile West Shoppe. Featuring Dirty Mike riding the company horse, wielding a couple of guns, and making sure you SAVE SAVE SAVE! Also don't steal, or he'll shoot you.
  • Meth Magic - It's a Christmas Miracle every season! Coming soon to a local public broadcast channel near you!
  • Jeff's Game!Forget White Elephant, and get ready for Special Jeff's Special Game! Seriously, this is so much better than White Elephant. This is the best idea.
  • Dan's Special Problem - You thought Dan had problems before? Well, he did. You were right. He's got a new one here, though, and it's a doozy.

It's episode 28 of the Is This A Thing Podcast! We're back! Seriously, you guys, it's for serious this time. Please, go ahead and call it a comeback. Tell your friends! Tell your neighbors! For the love of god, at least tell your mailman. At least your mailman. This is our annual Christmas episode! This time, we're all about improving Christmas for the world! We propose wonderful things, like fixing White Elephant using Amazon Prime Now, fixing holiday TV using Methamphetamine, and fixing department stores by giving a homicidal manager guns and putting him on a horse. How could it go wrong? It can't! Also we discuss height and Akshat eats puppy chow halfway through this, and it sounds awful. He's really sorry about it. Happy New Year!

#27: Hangcast!

It's Episode 27 of the Is This A Thing? Podcast!

"Hangcast"

Starring: Marc, Dan, and Akshat

Potential Things This Week:

  • Hammocks: Come visit a dystopian future, where the land is riddled with hammocks, and the survivors have only one question: "why did we let all the kids 'mock so hard?"
  • Slacklining: Follow the adventures of Kickflip McDonald! 4'8" of pure, unadulterated sidekick.
  • Hanging Tents: Should it be? Could it be? Will it lead to our demise?

It's episode 27 of the Is This A Thing Podcast! That's right, we're back! Hah! Take that, enemy of the show Scronald McManman! This week, we're just hangin' around brah. Come chill with us! We first talk about the new talk-of-the-town in South Minneapolis: straight 'mockin. All the kids are doing it! Next, we talk about Slacklining. It's an important treatise about the future of our nation's wonderful parks, and how we can turn them into a veritable wonderland of hangin'. Finally, we talk about a new possible thing: hanging tents in trees in your backyard. It's a terrifying concept, but one that could prove oh so comfortable. Thanks for hangin' with us!

#26: Dan's Dirtbag Diaries: Of Ghosts and Hats

Special Thanks to @TaylorHigs for the Logo!

Special Thanks to @TaylorHigs for the Logo!

It's Episode 26 of the Is This A Thing Podcast!

"Dan's Dirtbag Diaries: Of Ghosts and Hats"

Potential Things This Week:

  • Relationship Ghosting: Guess which one of the three relationship ghosted someone - you know what, never mind. We know it's Dan, you know it's Dan. Why play this game?
  • Facebook Activism: This is becoming a recurring topic. Not "things on Facebook", but rather "three old coots yell about things people younger than them are doing because they don't understand". Also, more yelling at Zuckerberg!
  • Hats: Akshat's incompetence on display here, as he once again questions a practice he knows next to nothing about.

It's Episode 26 of the Is This A Thing Podcast! We first start talking about the monumental culture shift that took place recently. It's an important change, and we're all happier for it. If you're not, you're a monster. Get with the program. We then move onto Ghosting in Relationships, and Dan's misspent youth and present, and how Future Dan hates Present Dan, and especially Past Dan. Also, look out for Akshat's new play titled "The Three Dans". Coming to theaters in the year 2030! Following, all three of us complain about things on Facebook, and sound like terrible old men. Also, another round of handy tips for Zuckernerd! Finally, we talk about hats. Who wears hat hats? Hopefully no one.

"Who you gonna call? Ghost Blasters!"

#25: Train Logic

Special Thanks to Taylor Higgins (@TaylorHigs) for the logo!

It's Episode 25 of the Is This A Thing? Podcast!

"Train Logic"

Potential Things This Week:

  • Prank Calls: You shouldn't do them. And apparently, it's not really even okay to enjoy listening to them.
  • Interacting with Friends in Public: Specific, somewhat sexual texts are clearly the way to go if you see a friend in public.
  • Autocorrect: Just download a different keyboard already. Autocorrect goofs just aren't furniture! See? Not funny.

It's Episode 25 of the Is This A Thing Podcast! It's our Silver Anniversary, which is just as precious as can be. Today, we talk about a host of issues that highlight how broken we are inside. Deeply, to be more specific. We are deeply broken. We first talk about Akshat's interesting and childlike fascination with Prank Phone Calls. It's still funny to him, even though he admits that it's probably not actually all that funny. From there, we go to a problem Dan has with greeting and being friendly to friends and coworkers that he might encounter randomly on the train. Well, it's not all friends and coworkers. Mostly enemy of the show Steve Farmer. Finally, we get to a PSA from Dan: turn off autocorrect on your phone. It's really just terrible, and if you make a mistake you should have to live with it. That might be the Golden Rule? We'll never truly find out.

Special thanks to Fletcher Magellan for our theme song, "Oh, No!" off his upcoming album. Listen to it, and other singles like it on his Soundcloud.

#24: Only When I'm On Fire

Thank you to Taylor Higgins (@TaylorHiggs) for our logo!

Thank you to Taylor Higgins (@TaylorHiggs) for our logo!

It's Episode 24 of the Is This A Thing Podcast!

"Only When I'm On Fire"

Potential Things This Week:

  • Segway Tours: Watch out for Segway-Ball! An olympic sport in 2032.
  • Facebook Stalking Your Ex: It really boils down to emotional hygiene. And since none of us are capable of maintaining that, Zuckerberg will have to do it for us.
  • Being Told You Look Like Someone: Apparently, everyone looks like Seth Rogen and Marc looks like the guy from Big Bang Theory. Boingzo!
  • Non-Smokers: Really, the only correct answer is "It's only water vapor"

We start this episode's journey with a trip through Segway tours, in which we continue our series of "things that are only things if you're white". We then move on to a dangerous topic: facebook stalking your ex! In which Dan strengthens his claim on the "Resident Douchebag" throne. From there, we move on to discuss what do when someone tells you that you look like someone they know! Marc and Dan experience this a lot. Akshat does not. After talking a while about sitcoms, we finally move one to a listener question from friend of the show Annie, in Minneapolis! The question concerns the modern day semantics surrounding the phrase "non-smoker". It boils down to this: unless they're vaping, they don't technically have to tell you that they smoke other things as long as they don't smoke cigarettes. But it is disingenuous and shitty to not say you smoke something else. On the other hand, if they are vaping you won't have to ask at all! They'll be blowing water vapor in your face a few minutes after you meet them.

#23: Contracts with Wolves

Special Thanks to @TaylorHigs for the logo!

Special Thanks to @TaylorHigs for the logo!

Episode 23 of the Is This A Thing Podcast!

"Contracts With Wolves"

Potential Things This week:

  • Social Contracts vis a vis General IncompetenceRemember: if you're bypassing the system for your own personal gain at the expense of others, the thing you're actually incompetent in is being a decent member of society.
  • New Years Resolutions: So, If you want your resolutions to stick, make sure they sound like something cheerleaders say at high school sports games. Turns out.
  • Listener Question - Fighting Animals: Everything will kill you. Bears. Hippos. Donkeys are monsters, don't fight Donkeys. Maybe you can beat up a chicken, or a gopher, but that's about it.

Sorry for missing last week. Most of us decided that, as the last time wasn't enough, we had to embark on more spiritual journeys. Dan became an owl. Akshat lived inside the mind of an accountant for a while. Marc had some business to attend to at the business factory. This week we have a lively discussion about social contracts through the lens of General Incompetence! It's a wonderful discussion on how we're all terrible and wrong. We then move on to New Year's Resolutions, wherein Dan insists this is the perfect time to talk about how he likes them, and then proceeds to badmouth them for 20 minutes. It's a shining example of the first topic. We finish with something special: a listener question from Chris in Chicago. This was actually a castoff from the Judge John Hodgeman Podcast, but as we explain, we're willing to take any questions other podcasts may have rejected. Also, we'd like to say to Chris to pass on a message to his Brother-In-Law who thinks he can fight any animal he happens to come across: RIP in peace James. You'll be kicking hippos in heaven.

BONUS RANT #5: The Bidet Discussion

It's a Thursday, and that means BONUS CONTENT!

This week's Bonus Rant is a bonus discussion that was mentioned numerous times in Episode #22, but was inevitably scrapped for being too gross and terrible. The filth included:

  • Akshat saying the word "poop" many, many, many times.
  • Dan's love for water up his asshole, and a greater love for the fan that dries his asshole off.
  • A horrified and confused Marc.
  • Bidets. We talk about bidets a lot during this episode.

You probably don't want to hear this discussion. I'd turn back now if I were you...

Special thanks to Taylor Higgins (@taylorhigs) for the use of our logo!

Episode 22 of the Is This A Thing Podcast!

"Secondhand Mason Jar Toilets"

Potential Things This week:

  • Toilet SeatsWe almost completely dive into the age-old issue of toilet seats, and narrowly avoid bidets...
  • Mason Jars: Where will you be when the ghost of Carrie Nation comes back to destroy all the mason jars?
  • Thrift Shopping: Akshat wouldn't want to pop some tags, even if he knew what that meant.
  • Headphones while Driving: Another group of people to go to ITAT prison.

This episode was a day late because we were remembering our veterans the only way we know how: grilled meats, hard cider and Cards Against Humanity. This week we finally bring up Toilet Seats. Oh good. Another excuse for Akshat to say "poop" 35 times... Then we hop into Mason Jars. A trend that seems to be on the back end... OF MY BAT. Then we talk about Thrift Shopping. Akshat doesn't trust thrift shops, and really who can blame him. None of the stains are identifiable. Finally we bring up the monstrous people who wear headphones while driving. Unsafe, uncouth, uncool. Unanimous.

"When the only tool you have is a hammer, everything looks like a mason jar."

BONUS RANT #4: SOUTHPAW

It's a Thursday, and that means BONUS CONTENT!

This week's Bonus Rant is from all three guys. There was a preview before Avengers 2 for a film called Southpaw. It had the following:

  • A terribly awkward introduction by Jake Gyllenhaal
  • Major plot points being shown in their entirety
  • An ambiguous ending that absolutely no one cared about.

Marc may have lost the war on trailers, but he certainly won this battle. Thanks SOUTHPAW!

Special Thanks to Taylor Higgins (@taylorhigs) for our logo!

Episode 21 of the Is This A Thing Podcast!

"Honk if You're Lonely (Drunk Laundry)"

Potential Things This week:

  • Talking to StrangersOne of our oldest  faux pas gets challenged by Dan. Talk to all the strangers about their areas of expertise. Except Dan. Don't fucking ask him what he does.
  • Selfie Sticks: Like most things, their folly is general incompetence. Also like most things their solution involves drones.
  • Drunk Laundry: Have you ever tried to do laundry sober?
  • Car Horns: The only solution is more punishment for all involved.

On this day, 39 years ago, Kevin Maurice Garnett was born. Happy Birthday, #21. Hey, its also our 21st Episode! On this episode we talk about talking with people on the job. Much less scary than actually doing it. Then, Dan discovers his true passion, working two jobs at once. We discuss Selfie Sticks, a problem solver that causes the same problems they were meant to solve. Akshat brings up Drunk Laundry, and we finish with a discussion of Car Horns. Intended for life or death situations, used to teach shitty lessons.
